I know many Cichla keepers look down there nose at dime a dozen Monos but I think they are magnificent fish.

wow they look great! yeah these fish are overrated because they are common, but good luck trying to find a nice true mono these days, or even an ocellaris. id take one of those over most of the other "rare" cichla out there :)

My Mono is abit bigger now that pic was taken 2 months ago.

shoot i think they are beutiful esp like the one with smaller humps mohawk!

I have a true wild mono from peru. He is awesome in color, and he looks a lot different in color than the tank monos. Good luck finding one, I found mine at an lfs for $20.

I would love to see pics of wild Monos to compare, but as for getting any where I live I highly doubt it.
I am on the look out for a good sized female for the boys to swoon over though.
I have noticed that my boys have had nuchal humps for quite some time were as many males do not.
Summer is getting closer and the days are getting longer and it is now that I have noticed that there humps grow.
Do Cichla breed in the warmer months normally??
