I am very disheartened tonight. I think I am going to have to get rid of my dog, Leelah. She is a boxer x pit. She has been the best of the best. But we recently had a fire, and I believe the experience has traumatized her. She used to let my boy climb all over. Now, she gets nippy with him. But also, she really doesn't do well with strangers. The firemen (at no fault) blew hot ash and water/steam on her. It really makes me sad to even have to think about it.

Cute pooch but I would never have guessed that she is pit/boxer.

Love brindle colored dogs. Hm there's info out there on stuff like this and would be worth reading. Traumatic exps can take quite a while to get over, so don't give up. Hopefully there's something that can be done.

I didn't have a fire but my pup did go thru some stuff. Cost a few hundred but I had a behavioralist work with her and worked thru her issues. Definitely worth the $

Well, the fire was on father's day. So not too long ago. But it has been one thing right after another here lately. We got robbed, had the fire, and had another to-do with a home invasion. With all this, if a uniform walks up she is super guarded. Which I hate this because I too wear a uniform (military). She is not mean/predatorially aggressive, but instead, very defensive. Thanks all for all your input. And maybe I'm over protective, but I don't even let my kids play with our little pup without me standing over them lol.

I'm curious. What would you think she is? We got her from a rescue at 8 weeks old.

Not sure as its sometimes hard to tell with mixes, seems like she would have a larger head.Hope all turns out okay for her.

I see the pit but her muzzle is shaped funny to be a pit boxer. I think you should work with her and build up her confidence. She will come around.
