What do you feed him? Do you guys have those little freshwater shrimp in PI also? Mine love to snack on those shrimp.

He regularly eats small 2in Shubonkin, 2-3 pcs everyday.
Yes, sometimes i buy him those freshwater shrimp and some kataba guppies to vary his diet.
I believe they're called Ghost shrimp. Ive tried feeding him beef heart also.
But the market near my location rarely has any beef heart these days.

Question to the experts, is there any benefits on feeding channa beef heart? i already got my micro on a frozen food diet so no more hassle of storing a lot of feeders for him on a regular basis. i just buy a few big ones from time to time and feed them to it when i wanna see it destroy something anyway, beef heart, is there any benefits feeding this to channa? thanks

First of all, feeder fish are not very nutritious and also carry many diseases. Fuzzy critters are not very good either. They are mostly fur and bone and not that much meat. They would have to be fed a lot in order to give the Snakehead enough to get by. A much better diet is frozen chunks of beef heart. This is a risk free, economical diet for your Snakehead that is
also very nutritious. It's very high in protein and low in fat.
Best of all, Snakeheads love it! The economical part comes in only
if you stay away from buying the stuff at a fish store. I buy my
beef heart from the butcher. It comes frozen and whole. I chop it
up and keep it in a tightly sealed container in the freezer. Hehe.

i see.. where and how much do you buy your beef heart? do you buy it in a wet market or butcher shops like Montery or in Super markets?
i think i wanna try that cause i am also looking for something to feed my micro that would be more economical cause my RTC is already making a big dent in my wallet haha
oh and the fuzzy critters are just for show haha just wanna see what a micro can do in the wild
