I agree about the aquarium strain thought, carpintus locational separations have only been very recently seriously taken into account, whereas, in the past, people just bought some carpintus from here or there and randomly combined them. And I would imagine, bred them with cyannoguttatus.
And yes the worming could be simply a trait of the parental pair.
I find the blue texas a bit of a misnomer, because, if that means carpintus, they are not found in Texas, at least endemically.
