Chameleons change color to thier background, it's a defense mechanism. From the look of your pics in pic 1 it was hanging around the leafs, and in pic 2 the cage wall. I have seen chameleons turn to even a whitish color. It's natural.

no he was all brown to day and he would not turn green

theyre chamelions they can change color whenever they want he will be fine there is nothing wrong with him

chameleons don't only change color to hide but also to show mood, dark coloration, like yours was exhibiting, is an indication that the chameleon was uncomfortable, this could have been caused by several factors: ie. there might have been something environmentally wrong

I agree with the big chicken.

Chameleons change color to camouflage but also to indicate mood. Brown means scared, uncomfortable, sick, etc. Has temperature fluctuated a lot lately? Change in diet? Sudden drop in humidity? Maybe he sees something in the room that he thinks is dangerous and its stressing him out.

Just keep one eye on it;) I he is eating and acting normaly there is nothing to worry about. For reasons that escape to my compreension (or at the least the litle I have:grinno:) my green anole allmost never is green in the 7 years Ive had him
