I've had the fish for around 6 months now, hes currently around 6" and beefing out a bit.
he was the only fish in the store with blue on his face, and the largest so I got it in hopes it was a male.
People on here kept saying it was female but I knew that the flecks of colour the fish had were too vibrant for a female. The main problem is that the camera settings never actually make the fish look how it looks in person, so it either looks blue, or gold. but in reality its both at the same time.

anyway champ starting to develop egg spots as of today.

Awesome fish!!

thanks guys, they tend to grow quite slowly, just under an inch per month, maybe less. but they grow downwards too. the only reason I could imagine them needing a large tank is they are constantly swimming. hes also shot out of the tank a few times and landed on the top of the lid. definately a species to keep covered at all times.
