This is my Lil cherry. Very friendly. Comes out of his little hide Every time I walk into the area, About a year an a Half year old. Seem to be a very happy Tortoise. I normally watch him when he goes on his little adventures aside

Side news - I was at Petco today to just see Their knowledge on Animals. I asked them What kind of Bedding to use for a Redfoot. They suggested Sand Beddng. Makes me wonder, How many people out their have the wrong set up for their animals. Birds in Aquirams you say? I also saw this Bearded Dragon in a tank wile there. Probably only twice the size of him :/
Why doesnt petco and petsmart Higher people at least with some knowledge of the animals they sale?

How is your cherryhead overall. I have really been thinking about getting one in the near future. What do you keep him in?

For the first week after I got him he was somewhat shy. But after a little bit of him noticing who I am and what I do for him/her Comes out when Im around the area. As of now I keep in in a tub. Probably 3 feet long and 2 feet wide. I have turtles aswell as this tortoise (Pinkbelly sidenecks and Alligator snapping turtle.) Hes just as sociable as a dog I think. When hes outside while im swimming he goes on his little adventures in a Chicken wired pen I built. And Will come out of the bushes when im coming to his little pen thinking I got some snacks for him.
I would suggest a cherryhead for anyone who is interested in a long lived animal that grows attached to a person lol. Also when inside and peaking out to see whats going on around the area I come over and pick up a Tub to soak him he comes right out of his bushy hide. He looks like a passed out drunk while soaking. But i guess hes just having a goodtime.
After awhile hes become comfortable enough to let me rub under his neck and scratch his head.

As far as diet, Leafs, vegies some fruits tortoise food and sometimes ill give him some of the things I eat, Like some off my scrambled eggs or a peices of my subway sandwitch. I dont get extras like vinger and junk.
He enjoys it

Petco and Petsmart don't hire knowledgable herp/aquatic employee's because they're a corporation, not a mom and pop shop. They could lose a customer a day based around shoddy advice and still do fine. They pay minimum wage to teenagers looking for a job they think will be laid back - and don't much care about anything but the profits at the end of the fiscal year.

They're both slowly phasing out all reptile, amphibians, and aquatic livestock due to the losses they face from neglect - as it's costing them money. If that makes you feel any better.

That's how all my box turtles act. They're extremely friendly and as soon as they see me near their pen they come crawling out of the ferns as fast as they can to beg for food. If I was to get a tortoise it'd probably be a Red Foot. They remind me a lot of box turtles. :D

Here's my one female box turtle I've had for over 22 years. She's about as friendly as it gets.
