My Chocolate eats meat!!!

I have had my Pleco for about a month,i drop 3-4 algae wafers in the tank every nite,but he doesnt touch them!!!But when i drop extra shrimp or smelt in my tank the Pleco is all over it!!He has grown close to a half an inch already!

Some plecos feed exclusively on meat, and some feed primarily on vegetation. It is can be problematic for the fish if you cross the foods too much.

Shrimp eating plecos also turn alittle pink at times! At least mine did

Some that have natural pinky/orange/red colours (i guess the yellow pigment im not sure) can be enhanced with carotin filled foods.

i have read that a high meat diet is better when they are young and then when the reach 4-5 inches you should keep them on all vegetation...this is pertanting to most plecos royals are still gunna need wood and what not but for the commons/common albino/common chocolates that theory appiled works well...thats how i raised my albino and my chocolate...post pics...

Usually the "commons" have a preference in veggies before meats, and then the ratio swings the other way as they grow.

Better fed him with natural foods as cucumber or tomatoe(avoid lettuce to low in nutrients), shrimp will be fine once a week
