I almost didn't post this with all the xingu and possible intermedia grow out threads, but when I got my shipment from snookn21 this morning I just got too excited and have to show off a little.

Today's cichla shipment was
3- rio meta orino
1- guyana ocell

and other grow outs are 3 lake diamante (spelling?) Mono's from a few months ago

I know they aren't as rare as some of the other grow out threads right now (great time to be a cichlaholic isnt it?) but I really see some stunner potential in these guys and am setting up a 210 for them to grow out in over the next few weeks (set up, cycle, etc)

Sorry for the low quality pics
Enjoy!

Lookin great man !!!!! Gotta love orino for sure ..And i have been personally suprised with the Beauty of the Guyana Occell i sure love mine ...You should NEVER NOT POST YOUR FISH !!!! because you may think somone has a More Rare or beautiful fish Brudda I don't care who it is there is always somone with a bigger badder set up or more expensive fish ALWAYS...Matters how ya take care of the ones ya got that brings the beaty of a fish out the care and time put in period!!!!:naughty::ROFL:Future Stunners is what ya got !!!

Thanks everyone, Im really excited about this group and can see some real potential for an amazing pack when they get to the big sizes! They are all fairly common cichla but going to be a stunning display with some crazy colors when they all get to be adult ! Now to pellet train the new group like I did with the mono's.

and wow those pics don't look as bad as i thought they would on a comp screen, I took them on my phone but they turned out decent (not great but you can tell there is a fish in there lol)

Hulon is totally right. Those are some lovely looking growout's and although orinos are not the rarest cichla they are definitely one the the best looking. Look at Hulons orinos and ocell and you see what I mean. It's about giving your fish the best care and growing them into big, beautiful adults.

Monos are the most common cichla out there but this guy never fails to impress.

Thanks guys! And I think I may have worded my first post wrong, I in no way discount the beauty of any cichla. Actually to be quite honest and this is just my opinion but some of the exact species and collection points I have are my favorite cichla and I think they are VERY under-rated. Everyone knows Orinos look amazing but lake diamante monos have got some of the most amazing color out there, on any fish not just peacock bass. I just meant with the latest ultra rare grow outs mine would likely be easy to overlook lol, don't mean I'm not as proud of them as a fishkeeper can be.

Now let me clarify so I don't get flamed, I like the way the rarer species look also, but if I can get 10 mono for the same amount of coin as for one fill in the blank with latest rare species I'll take the monos, atleast until I have enough spare funds to get both lol.

And Tim thanks for posting that mono is definitely a stunner that helps my case out lol.

Sorry for the novel but I want to end the story by saying I have been keeping cichla for a little over a year now and they are by far my favorite fish in any of my tanks.

C.R.E.A.M. all day every day!

Snookn always provides some quality fish. How big are your diamantes now? Ive got 3 of them as well but havent had much luck gettin em to eat what i want....

I would say around 4" maybe a little over. Mine were actually eating pellets within a week. Oddly enough now that I put a divider in their tank for the new cichla (much smaller) they haven't eaten anything and almost act afraid of me.

If I sneak in the room and they don't see me they are acting like normal cichla, but when they see me they pile into the back bottom corner of the tank hiding. I also haven't seen them eat since I put the divider up, I'm sure they will come around just getting used to new surroundings, its just a wierd reaction. Anybody had this happen or have an idea how long it might last?
