this is one of my guys.... awesome fish, quickly becoming my favourite catfish, extremely active, built like tanks, and man can they hoover up food. i have 3 and will prolly only keep one, if anyone is interested in one (i know they are illegal in some areas) let me know

within the first week of having these guys, the largest one went from 1 inch, to 2.... in a week!!

beautiful lookin catfish... are they all that big?! id be interested but all my cats r 10-15 cms

Aha, a walking catfish keeper. I wonder when one would pop-up. Albino to boot. These get huge! Yep, very active too. Ever seen a feeding frenzy by these critters. The water just 'boils' (saw at at a farm)

Yeah these grow fast. One time i had 2.5" specimen as a clean-up crew for my silver aros... when i got back again, it has grown to 5" and was competing for food. I got rid of it later. Sorry, these are staple food fish where i come from. Cool fish nevertheless. Would love to see how big you raise it.

Good point is that these fish can live in truely filthy water so you don't need to worry about foul water heheheh Definitely not afraid of people and will eat from hands

yeah i feed them by hand .... always creepy when im in the tank and u feel these little whiskers scanning you lol...

yeah my goal is to raise 3, pick the smallest to keep and sell the bigger ones. hopefully i can keep him in my 150

You will be able to keep it in the 150 for sometime (depending on how much you feed it) ... i observed that when i had mine stilling food from aros (which i did not mind really), then stuff himself <so i am thinking "fine he had his fill">, then add more food then he pukes everything out then goes and eat some more (while my woosy aros try to compete) ... that is the reason why i did not keep him in the end. too much glutony ^^

Beware, this number grows to quite epic size in the end even if wiki says that max size is 30cm, i have seen this type of farm raised cats going beyond 10-20kilos (perhaps it is a sub-species: looks exactly the same though). Having said that the 'wild' walking catfish are small unlike the farm raised counterparts (i'll try to get a photo)

Awesome Clarias. Yup...they definitely are food hoarders.

Nice cat!!!

thanks everyone, i really hope i can keep one... i plan on getting a bigger tank in the future but at the rate these things grow... hopefully he will slow down long enough i can convince the other half i need a bigger tank. lol
