1yr old loaches
3 out of 4 died

did a 70% water change..next morning found them dead
started doing 70% water changes 1 month ago..prior to his was 50% weekly

only thing i noticed was after water change..nitrate was 20ppm...not sure what it was prior to water change

coulda large drop in nitrates do harm to loaches?

no other fish died...have other loaches in the tank..emperor, kulhi, and pokadot loaches

thanks for the help mfk

i do use chemi pure elite and seachem purigen

possible that those products removed something from the water and doing a large water change changed added back some thing that loaches are sensitive to?

Did you notice an ich? Sometimes it is quite hard to see and often hits CLs hard?

Of course, water changes would drastically reduce. Just thought to bring it up since ammonia readings was not mentioned. Was the 70% on this water change temperature regulated? I have 37 larger clown loaches and always make sure there are no more than 4 degree variance from prior temp.

i did check for ammonia as soon as cypher mentioned it.... no ammonia...i have a feeling it has to do with a change in ph since my water source is low in buffering. ahhh sucks...

i guess ill go back to doing water changes once a week... :(

a drastic shift in ph would do it, this is why i pack my sump with crushed coral. the ph out of my tap is a very low 6.0
also sorry for your loss, i love my clown loaches.

id guess stress or shock killed them,70% is a lot of change and clown are very susceptible to even small changes,
dam sorry u lost them tho.
