Don't have any physical evidence of it left at this point but all signs point to yes.
When I was home for lunch today at noon, I noticed the dominant male in my school of 7 congo tetras (4 male, 3 female) was staking a claim to a clump of java moss on top of some rocks in my 75 gallon, fighting off the others, and showing off for one of the females.
Went back to work, came home at 5:00 and my two senegal bichirs were furiously rooting through the java moss like i'd never seen before. No eggs to be seen at that point, but seems pretty likely to me that it happened.
From what I've read, it sounds like it's not real common for congo tetras to breed in the community tank, but what's funny is that my PH and GH go against everything I saw recommended for breeding them....
PH - 8.3
GH - 376 ppm
KH - 197 ppm
Temp - 81
Moderately planted 75 gallon tall, black sand substrate with natural rocks, and 1.73 watt per gallon lighting. Tankmates are 2 senegal bichir, 2 ropefish, 2 african butterflyfish, a peacock eel, and a bristlenose pleco.
Just wanted to post about it for informational sake, and because it always makes you feel like you're doing something right when your fish spawn... especially when it's tetras lol.
