so my cons reacently bread and i ended up getting rid of all the babies but now my female keeps getting chased my the male each time she goes near him, he runs after her with his gills flared. he did this when there were babies in the tank but since there all gone i dont see why he keeps doing it.

I see. I have this problem with my cons on occasion. My male is just infamous in my house for being a Cops-esque wife beater. So after and during fry development, I have to remove him, or else he'll beat and sometimes kill his mate. You might want to try moving him for a while, and then putting him back when the female is ready to breed again (when she's full of eggs). I know for my male, he's just an obbsessive lover, and when she's ready to breed, you can say he's very friendly to her. But when she's not in the mood, he's sad and angry. You know, kind of like humans.
Add some much need cover for the female now!!!
As for the chasing, my male does this. Usually it goes on for a week or so. But she doesnt get hurt, not even a scratch. Just mercerisly chased around the 35G with lots od dithers. 3ftx12"x18".
