If you guys haven't noticed by my numerous questions...I have a male and female convict :D:D

When I put the male in my 55g it seemed to be chasing only the female convict so the male is in my 10g now.

I noticed that there was a small pit in my 55g, but my used tank came with pebbles for substrate that are about 1/3" and my convict is about 2in" so I thought I just made the pit with my fingers when I was evening the gravel.
Today(after moving my convict to the 10g), I noticed another small pit in my smaller gravel. I had a heater positioned somewhere around there so I assumed the heater made the hole o.o

Now after googling, it seems that the male will chase the female when it wants to breed, and it's not chasing any other fish...so is my male actually trying to get the female to breed?

Also found some thing about a breeding tube when I googled...There's a really small triangular thing sticking out under the female convict. Is that supposed to be the tube? :screwy:

Edit:I'm going to see if my male convict re-digs the pit in the 10g...tho I'm pretty sure it was because of the heater since there's no female lol
./me is retarded

Solo connies will dig pits, thats just them, practice practice practice. Paired connies will dig pits, because they want to breed, when do connies not want to breed? Maybe, Maybe when then no water but I wouldnt put it past them to try. Male cons want to breed twice as much as female cons. depending on the size difference this can be an issue, try to break up the tank with rocks, driftwood etc

cichlids in general <sa/ca especially> dig pits...it's what they do. they dig that pit expecting at some point to move a batch of fry there. and it doesn't matter if you have a solo, pair, 2 males, or 2 females...they'll dig. :)
