So ive had a pair of convicts for about 4 weeks now both around 3-4inches. there in a 125 with 4 gts a birchir a FH and 2 spotted pims. make note the FH is going to my dad this weekend. the cons have paired and cleaned out a pot in the back left corner of my tank. temp is around 82degrees. substrate is black sand. and filters are a FX5 and a fluval 305. why havent they bred yet? there very protective of the pot and chase everything off.

never was really good at that whole patienc thing

good deal just waitin on it

If they're protecting that spot, odds are it's going to happen real soon.

Good luck!!!

yea they dont let anything on the other side of the tank, they make sure everything stays on the right half and theyve started digging pits around a clay pot in the back left corner

In a couple days you'll spend 10 minutes looking all over for your female con and she'll be nowhere in sight. You'll notice the male in one spot and he won't move. You'll see the female con peaking her head out of a cave under a pot where the male is protecting the entrance. Give it about 4-5 days after that and you'll see fry.

thanks guys, im going away for the weekend so maybe when i come back ill see some progress

Cons are by far the easiest to breed(IMO).. Those little guys will breed in a mud puddle :ROFL:!!! All it takes is 1 male and 1 female to equal lots of fry. At one point my male had 2 batches of fry from 2 different females in the same tank.

Good luck--it will happen,
Chris
