My Convicts laid eggs already

My cons that I got last weekend already laid eggs!! They're colors have been vibrant and they've had a spot picked out since the day they got in the tank. Heres a vid of the pair doing what im assuming to be breeding behavior.

Im hopeing I get alot of fry from my two pair now and in the future. The fry will be feeders for my rays which i'll be getting in oct. (in the process of building a wet/dry)
 
Could rays really be fed Convict fry? I don't know much about rays, but I always thought they were bottom feeders. Convict fry are usually always swimming about, and I don't think a ray could effectivly catch and then eat a Convict fry. Out of curiousity, what part of Michigan are you from? Around Lansing?

If they rays have a prob catching the fry I guess a solution for that is killing the fry before feeding them to the rays.

I'm from Trenton in south east wayne county.
 
Yep! That's definately spawning behavior. Really neat to watch.

My grandma lives on Cherry Hill and Brandt. =P I used to live on Mildred Street if you know where that's at. On a side note, have you been out to Preuss Pets in lansing? ^^ Best LFS in Michigan by far.

I'm going to guess the Rays will need the fry killed for them. I can't imagine the rays getting close to the fry and then tipping upright to actually eat them.
 
Yeah i've heard Preuss Pets is a pretty sweet store. Once i get a chance i wanna head out there and check it out. The stores i normally hit up are Fish doctors in trenton, pet station in dearborn heights, but my fav is fantastic fins in livonia they're pretty sweet
 
Stingrays are sometimes fed goldfish (Not all the time due to diseases). The goldie goes in, and then the stingray 'jumps' on the snack. Devoures it and keeps on trucking. No different with a con. Except for the speed of a con against a slow stingray. But wait nightfall...

Wow! There's something I didn't know. I'd be interested in seeing that. Sounds like quite the display.

And BlackKnife, I didn't know about Fantastic Fins in livonia. Do they have a website, or do you know the address? I can maybe check it out before my summer vacation is over.
