dont seem intrested in eachother anymore
i had em in a 10g
but i thought id be nice and let em breed in my 55 gallon
with all the extra space and extra fish in the tank
they dont seem to even notice eachother
the males about 2 inches
and the female about 4 or 5 inches
u think theyll eventually breed?

When did you put them in you 55? If you just put them in there recently, give 'em a few days to get settled before they start breeding. What other fish do you have in there?

It might take them longer than a few days also. My pair was in the 75g for about 5 months before they bred. They ate the eggs before they hatched.

if you are completly sure you have a male and a female.... and there is no aggresion between them i would guess the male hasnt reached his maturity either sexualy or mentaly ... has your female laid eggs and have u seen them mold?? 10 gallons is tough so the move was a good thing from a breeding standpoint and a 4 inch con in a 10 isnt the best.... give them a week or 2 to settle into the tank.... dont interupt them or change anything around.... do a good gravel vac once a week but before entering the tank look for eggs and fry.... let them dig and mover everything around this is what they will do all day everday.... keep the temp at 78 no higher untill the eggs are a keeper batch raise the temp up to 80 untill the fry are 3 weeks old then u will need to pull the fry and throw them in your 10 or another growout tank.... all those guys wont last long in a 10.......while your waiting for them to spawn do a waterchange or 2 more a week... keep the room dark and quiet feed them some good spirulina flake to ensure good health and just give your male some time to grow... if the female overpowers him and doesnt take to him trade him for a larger male and start over i think your guys will be just fine just give them some time....the reason why i said feed them spirulina is a lot of cichlid guys are big on protein and skip the other essencials ..... pellets are fine a few times a week and feeders are ok a few times a month... spiru flake as a staple food is imo the best digestive regulator/vitamin content combination for your fish.... i feed all my fish this even carnivourous fish will benefit also try new life spectrum pellets.... my cons are sooooo much more colerful then any fish ive seen at stores or online for that matter i feel lucky to have such nice cons because i love theese fish... such great parents nice and colerful active guys owner responsive.. you will have a great time with theese guys just give them the right environment and they will put on a great show for you

thanks guys
i have 2 hjeta gars in theyre about 4 inches
a silver datnoid about 2 inches
and a pictus catfish
and another cat that i dont no the name of
hahhahahah
its some kinda african catfish

that would be an upside down sino cat they are deffinatly nice looking

just so you know those cats will eat the eggs so you wont have any breeding going on with cats or plecos

I would be worried that the catfish would eat the eggs. Also, keep an eye out for aggression. My female LOVED to beat up my poor male. I had to take him out every time they bred, because the female wouldn't let him near the eggs. I felt sorry for the poor guy.
