hi i wonder if any1 could help me i have 2 coral catsharks one is 17" lonog and the other is still a baby, i have recently noticed a lump just behind his jaw been tryin too look into it for a while but cant realy find anything please can some1 help me?!i have just recently brought the baby shark, my bigger shark is fine and eats about 5-6 sprats every couple of days and is fine. i dont understand wots gone wrong!

Hmmm ... Hard to tell what's exactly wrong based on what little information you've given.

Things like water conditions would help. Also do you use vitamin/mineral supplements in the sharks diet.

It sounds like it could possible be a goiter - but it's hard to be certain without more detailed info.

Without seeing it, I'm going to agree with the goiter assesment of the 'lump'. I've seen it a lot. Usually is an idodine issue (that is the short version). A shark/ray vitamin supplement will work wonders for issues like that. It happens a lot with smaller captive sharks and a lot of carpet sharks as well (nurse sharks need a steady iodine supplement weekly).

yer my other shark seems fine always bloody eatin but the little one hasnt eaten yet, would this prevent him from eatin? i have got sum fish vits will that do the same thing? does it harm the shark and is it life threating?

If it's too close to the mouth,it might be preventing him/her from opening it to eat. Can you get a pic of it? What is in the fish vitamins you have? I would venture a guess that they are formulated differently than what a shark needs.

its quiet far behind the mouth say about an 1" quiet hard gettin a pic cause as its only been in the tank a couple of days dnt reaaly wanna piss it off looked like it had gone down a bit last night when i saw him, the big shrk swims around a lot but the little one doesnt is this due to him getting used to my tank?

Yeah, that vitamin won't due much.
If you can catch the little guy and roll him on his back to hold him, he'll stay calm enough to get a picture. That would help a lot.

hiya, now got home and fed my sharks the little 1 is nibbling the food, im feeding him sprats which i get frozen from lfs, he was eating at lfs but hasnt really touched them since i brought him home, he was feeding fine at lfs, do u reckon hes still settling in or just not hungry?? he seems 2 show interest but thats about it, ive just tried taking a picture of the lump but dont know if it will show up well enough. the lump looks slightly pink
