One day me and my mate where talking about fish, I said i really wanted a 8 or 6 foot tank in my room and dad said the max i could have is a 4 foot tank, So my friend suggested a corner fish tank with one 3 foot tank glued to a 4 foot tank. It's a real nice idea. I drew up a picture on paint.

I'm planning to make a stand out of real nice wood, and make some cupboards and in those cupboards can be feeder fish tanks.

The fish I'm planning to put in there are South/central American cichlids such as a Oscar, 2 pairs of convicts (white and blue). Any other cichlids i Can't really think properly after tonights football match (got head knocked).

Cheers.

Btw, I'm thinking of ditching my bead to make a fish room :D, Thats if I'm allowed, Damn parents, I'll be sleeping on the ground.

first floor i assume? do you plan on putting the tanks up against each other or do you wan the tanks to be connected with the same water in the two? i slept on the floor for 5 years i just didnt like my bed one day.

I've been playing with the idea of something similar. Although my idea was to build a custom tank with a 5 foot L. This would be beneficial as, most corners don't get used very well, at least in my house. You always have a large amount of unusable space. My idea was always to have both areas connected, so that it's all one tank. This would give a large tank size, well over 100 gallons, a great weight distrobution and plenty of spaces for territory.

I'd love to hear comments if anyone has ever done this type of tank, I really be interested in getting their feedback.

Are you going to make the tank yourself? I would not just take two tanks apart and silicone them together. Instead get the glass and everything else you need and build it from scratch.

I am experimenting with replacing my bed with a nice real hammock(Not the ones with the poles on each end so its like a flat bed, but one that wraps around your body) so consider that.

Here in Australia, no-one really live in flats, except for people in the city with millions. Everyone has flat houses and or 2 story, which are built pretty stong.

About the L tank, I want to do something like that in the future, but I wouldnt be aloud, being only 13.

You could place the 2 tanks side by side so they touch but only the glass, then build a water-bridge.

lol, I live in Australia, In Brisbane and I'm 13. Well, I could get dad to weld me a template for my tank to sit on, so it would have no chance of breaking. And yes, I am planning to silicon both together.

The filter is simple too, Its going to be a Big Sponge filter, but you won't see it because It will be in the stand attached to the tank.

Heres a pic.
The box which is attached to the filter is a pump

It uses gravity, the water is forced down into the filter and the pump shoots it out

I like the idea of the bridge, it means my fish could have some protection from the larger fish which couldn't fit in there, But i wouldn't make one that goes over the top of the fish tank, I would prefer to holes in the tank and having bits of pvc connecting them.

Thats what I would have, but it'd be much more risky and hard to do.

I just quickly drew this picture on paint, shows pretty much what is it, but im sure the pane of glass with the hole in it could be a single pane with just a hole cut in it with those cool things you see on the movies. Where they put plungers? on it and suck it. Then draw a cirle or something Lol.
