My dat keeps going very dark almost black all over?

Like the title says, I know in most fish it's a sign of stress but he appears fine and can't see any reason he would be, is this normal?

Datnoids will go stable/unstable. Some worse than others. has no effect on there health whatsoever. You're good.

Mine change color all the time.

I only have two right now, sometimes they will chase each other around the tank and turn completely black almost instantly and be stable again minutes later.

Ok thanks, if he's like it a lot ( seems to be black more often than striped ATM ) is it just because he likes being like that or is he stressed?

Just depends on the fish. Some will always be stable and others may never be

Mines use to change colors. I added a lot more fish and the dats became more stable. As long as he eats, you're fine.
