ok my daughter is just dying for nemo. the problem is that i've never attempted salt water. i have been reading up but just want someone to point me n the right direction. i don't want large tank in her room so what would be the smallest setup i can get for nemo and probably i friend?

Define large. More gallons = more forgiveness in terms of water parameters, which would be ideal for someone just starting out with saltwater.

aww if you were closer i would just sell you my nano setup

im sure lots of people are going to give you all kinds of advice so im going to try and hit something else....

try and teach your daughter the lesson of not wanting it because you see it on the television, but wanting it because you would like to learn and care for the little creature, a pet is not an ornament.

Id say get her a bright colored guppy or betta....and see if she even really likes fish before you go out and buy her 'nemo'

thx for the advice and that is exactly what i'm doing. she loves the hobby, heck she reminds me about water changes and feeding. i think it will be a good experience for the both of us!

thats awesome then, go for it! on craigslist in my area theres a 60Gal SW complete setup for 100$...wish i just had the room and time for another...maybe you can find a good deal in your area as well...if not i THINK (not sure cuz im FW) one of those 29gal eclipse nano might work for a couple clowns...

29 gallon bio cube. With about twenty pounds of live rock.

Two clowns are better than one.

29gal min.. and I'de agree w/ getting a immature bonded pair if possible. The SW forum will be alot more help. Personally I never liked having a SW tank smaller then my 40 breeder. Which I will say has an awesome footprint for some roc-work, plenty of room for a pair of clowns, and a few inverts and a goby or 2. anything I had smaller then that was just alot of work to maintain.
