Today I was watching my tank and I noticed that my del is acting strange. I think its a he because of his large anal fin, but I think he is trying to pair up with my lap.

The del is relentlessly chassing the lap and rubbing against the lap. Also I don't think I have seen him more then a few inches from the lap in a long time. I really don't see any agression.

Is this just normal behavior or is my del actually trying to mate with my lap, and would it be possible they breed?

Sorry for the long post, and thanks for any info.

Hi.
Quite common "randy" behavior from Bichirs.

My 11" Male Del used to bother my 64cm Endli doing the rubbing thing!
Poor thing look so tiny trying to impress my big girl!
This kept happening until my big girl got pissed, and turned on it one day giving him a bit of a fright. He didn't do it anymore lol!

The chances of it breeding with your Lap is next to none.
The chances of it "pairing" with your lap is about the same.

My 11" del used to do this to my 15" endli too lol,the size difference was hilarious, randy little thing lol.
