I dont have a del, but im still waiting for my lfs, they order it for me, so idk if taking care off a del is the samething on taking care off a ornate, endli or sen, my ornate took 4 nights before i seen him eat but my endli and sen ate the first night.First del but not my first poly I have 2 sens and one albino sen at the moment in my 125g. The del is growing out in my community tank till he is big enough to harass the cory cats then he will go in a 29g by himself for a bit. I am really excited I have wanted a del for a long time now.
The pics do not do him justice his patterns flow up into his spines and through the tail fin as well almost makes em look like smoked glass in those spots.
So far he has claimed the spot behind my filter intake( do not think he is used to the amount of flow in my tank). He did not eat tonight because he was still hiding out at feeding time.
Also got my first bag of hikari massivore as a found a store with it so I crumbled 2 of em into that tank. Hope fully he starts eating from what i hear that stuff will bulk him up fast. My sens sure tore it up.
Thats good, keep us update.I think its just the amount of movement in my community tank freaking him out a bit. if I do not see him eat in the next day or so he will get a cozy little 20 or 29 gallon all to himself. ( wife wants one set up so I can buy south american bush fish any way. she fell in love with them) so maybe a wee baby poly will cycle it for me solo in a tank that size with a seeded filter he will be just fine.
Congrats on your first Del, keep in mind African Bush fish have large mouths can easily suck Del in if small enough.
