my dempsey. is baaaadd

just a story .so as you know i sold my dempsey to my lfs. they put him along with my mayan cichlid in a 55 gal. in the tank there is a few ditherss. when i dropped him off i saw when they put him in the 55 there was an about 10 inch texas cichlid in there who literally doubled my dempsey in body mass. mind you my dempsey is about 6 inches maybe 7. i came back to the store today to get minnows i walked by the 55 and asked the lady how my fish wer doing. they looked perfectly fine. she goes that dempsey is terrible, i go "what!" she said "that dempsey destroyed that texas, so basically it was either my dempsey or my texas and my dempsey ruled. i figured my dempsey wasnt gonna take no sh**, he had worse teeth than my jag, nastyy. so just alittle story. and yeah im happy i didnt go to the store and here a story how i turned my dempsey into deathrow. put a big smile on ma face. so as of now hes just chillin wit his mayan cichlid friend like the good ole times in my tank. live on little guy.

I don't know why Jack Dempsey cichlids are so underrated in aggression. Sure a lot of them are passive, might even be peaceful. But once you come across a bruiser.... it's really brutal. I've had JD that wiped out a CA community. A male that was about 6 inches, dominated 8 inch RD's and Jag's.

EDIT: Oh and also, JD's have some powerful jaws. They tend to overpower other cichlids in lip lock battles.
 
I've recently put my 5" female JD in my main tank with my 10" male jag , put it this way she's not taking any crap off him :D I was surprised that hes not battered her hes pretty nasty but obviously she's nastier, hoping they pair up for some cool looking hybrid offspring

yeah but the teeth on this bastard wer worse than that of my old 14 inch buttikoferi. ive never had a dempsey with visible teeth so its no wonder he killed that fish in a day. dempseys are smart in a larger tank they would rather pass on fights but when they have to fight for a territory or small tank its onn they are like pitbulls. its funny cuz he was raised in my tank with my mayan of similar size and they dont bother eachother . they wer sticking together in the 55 so i think thats the cool part.
 
Dempseys are solid, their jaw structure is also what makes them such an attractive fish (to me anyway lol)
 
Its like this is some credit to your manhood or something. Some stupid people put fish in a tank that shouldn't go together and one fish killed the other. How can anyone take any pride in this. These are the same type of people that are like my dog can beat up your dog. People have some issues.

who cares bro. I cant control what people do. I would have never put those fish together but the morons put my fish wit other dominant aggressive fish and my fish stuck together and survived. my ego is in no way effected by my fish walloping another fish. if I would have came in and my fish would have been dead do you know how that would make me feel. I raised them and nurtured them and they live on. hopefully someone pulls out the $100, buys them and gives them a good life. and just cuz I love pitbulls doesn't mean I would ever put mine or another dog in harmsway, god gave us dogs and I love them. I only have those dogs in my avatar because they remind of the dogs that me and my family have owned. chill homeslice

same here, my Dempsey used to punk my jag once the jag hit 9 my Dempsey was like "ok, friends?" lol I loved that fish but my dad wanted a rose queen so he basically swapped it out. I used to have the attitude that fish wer disposable or something and you can just swap out and keep renewing your collection but now im thinking alittle different after this. this is kind of a humbling experience for me cuz ive never really raised a fish as a baby and then let it go like that Ima learn from this and just make sure I don't regret anything like that ever again
