I've been very lucky so far with raising discus. There's been no casualty, even though a few of them get sick here and there, and they have responded to the treatment really well.

ialtalal, thanks for your compliment.

I had learned my lesson a long time ago: only buy discus from a reputable source to save your headache, and heartache.

My tank is a 180 gallon as well. I have 20 fish in there in the mean time. Expect to have 2-3 pairs soon, then I move the pairs to their own tank. I plan to keep 12-14 of them in there when they are full grown.

Do you have some pictures of your tank somewhere on this forum? Show them, please.

yea i agree I am still learning with discus but its getting better everyday. i moved from a 55 to 75 then to 100 and now finally 180. I dont know if you saw my thread that i posted here as well http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?465576-Some-pics-of-discus-heavy-pics . my discus are recovering from sickness and they have lost weight during that time and now trying to feed some good food so they can gain their weight again and look better. all my fish are adults and are 5.5 inch 6inch + i have in 6 total now but i plan to add more. some of my fish came from kenny and some came from mike discus central Ohio. i am planning same as you to keep 12-14 as well. somebody over in my thread said to me that my discus looked stunt and I was like :( wow do they really look this way

ohh man i would not mine adding a few of them to my wild collection... good luck they might even breed =]
