Hey everyone, so my old canopy and lighting system was completely shot so I built an entirely new one, completely aftermarket build.
So here's the thread of my new canopy. It weighs around 15lbs or so and is made of 2x3's and mdf composite board. My brother is the technically blessed one of the family, he does machine shop and all that, he into woodworking etc. So if not for him, the thing probably would have been nailed together by hand. The new system took a day to make, and around 40$ Total, including the light, the new bulb, and all the wood.

For this project we used:

Finishing Nailer

Table Saw

Circular Saw

Hammer

Hot Glue Gun

Kreg Jig

Cutoff Tool

Measuring Tape

Pencil/Paper

Level

Below are a few pictures of the old setup and you can see why I wanted it to look less messy. I like very clean looking things, well at least if it keeps my parents tolerant of my hobby. The humidity from the tank was making it drain so fast, I could barely take anymore of the topping it off everyday nonsense.

So heres a few pictures of the in progress and the final product. Questions, concerns, please comment.!

By the way, I do plan on adding a lid and painting and sealing this, so just throwing it out there.

Cheers!! :asianarow:arapaimag:feedback::cheers::shark::help2:

Does anyone even care about people's projects that dont involve gallons in the thousands and fish that aren't at least 3 foot long or 200lbs. I guess not so much hahah

Good job! What are you using to cover the water, is it the panels from flourescent lighting?

Yea its flourescent panels for overhead drop sealing, I got the idea from somebody on here.

I replied to this thread earlier must not have hit the submit button. I think you did a good job. I would try to cover the nails. And you have plenty of room to add a fan. That should cut down on evaporation.

A fan would reduce evaporation? Any suggestions on the size for a fan like that?
