After learning the hard way that comets will eat ghost shrimp, I decided to set up something for the lil shrimpies.

First step: I got a small 4.5 Gal rubbermaid container (instead of a 5 gal tank)
No Pic
Second step: Cut a good size hole in the containers lid.

Third step: Shim an silicone 2 air driven Hagen sponge filters in the container.

Fourth step: I secured the lid to the container with expanding foam an silicone.

Fith step: I filled the small indents (feet of the container) with silicone.

Now I have 2 comets in it to cycle it before I start using it for ghost shrimp.

Nice craftsmanship, but where do the filters go? (mounted to the top?)

You may consider a screen for that opening if not, mine were jumpers.

I did make a lid outve 1/8" plexi wi 1/2" square acrylic rod to keep it from bowing, I just didnt get any pics of that.

step 3 shows the filters, i believe they go into the tank?
Yes they do go in the tank an are in the tank, I went threw acouple of different ways to mount them. I ended up using 1/8" plexi to "Shim" them into an upright positionan siliconed them in place.

why not add the filters to your established comet tank to cycle it then move it over to the conatiner?

Other tanks all have large wet/drys on them, an I have time to cycle slowly as the LFS i usually go to only gets fisn an whatnot every 2-3 weeks
