My DIY moving bed filter

Just made this filter with a 1.5 litre bottle and cut up straws . How long would I need to wait before it start spinning ? And anyone wash their moving bed filtration ?

Remove the airstone from the airline and it will start moving right away. I had this issue with my 3 diy k1 reactors.
