Well I made a 1" pvc overflow and it siphons water great BUT.......its sucking air and its mixing with the water causing MASSIVE micro bubbles in the sump. The sound of the air hitting the water sounds like a venturi pump or something. I had a mag 7 for the return and was thinking too much flow maybe? Should I put a gate valve on the return and tune it down a little? Also is there a way to quiet them down any? It sounded like a waterfall going into a pipe. Sound wouldn't bother me but this tank is in MY ROOM and afraid of sleeping issues
...Any help on this would be appreciated as im new to the diy stuff.
****Another issue I had was that I put my diy overflow inside my das h39 filter/overflow and the h39 could not get water to the pvc pipe fast enough causing the water level in the h39 to go way below the water level inside the actual tank. I took a saw zaw to that chamber where the water level goes straight from in the tank, to the h39 chamber where the pvc pipe is. If that don't work ill be ripping the h39 out but am afraid its stuck in there by 30lbs of silicone
. Sorry for confusing talk as this has had me thrown for loops the past couple of days.
