This is the stand I built for my new 150G tank. I decided not to finish it because it is going to go in a fish room. Let me know what you think! I'll also throw in a couplr pick of the 150 while I'm at it.

Nice, looks almost like mine, except I threw some paneling on mine because it's in the living room.

Are the up-and-down 2x4s just toe nailed and/or toe-screwed?
I dont know anything about aquarium stand construction so take this comment with a grain of salt, but I look at the 2nd photo above and while it's way better than anything I could ever do, I worry that if it's just toenailed (or toescrewed) that that might be a concern???

just a thought...U might want to put some plywood on that to keep it square...if it racks you'll have a mess on your hands. also a quick coat of sealer will keep the drips out of the wood...its a sponge now...todays wood has no heart...looks solid though

yeah this was my concern as well, although I don't really know what you mean my toenailded/screwed but I think we're on the same page. I'd be worried about it swaying back and forth, most people put another vertical 2x4 bracing the one that rests between the top and bottom to make it more rigid.

I just noticed that there were replies to this. I have since sold this tank, but I will indulge answers. The 2x4 were screwed together using a Kregg Jig. This is the same as screwing straight through fromt he other side of the boards. The way in which the verticle 2x4 were positioned allowed for compensation against sway. Also, don't forget the crossbeams installed. I had this tank full and also tested it to see how sturdy it was. the stand not so much as even creaked under the pressure of the 1000+ lbs that was placed on it.
