My DIY turtle tank setup.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
prettty nice, someone posted one similiar awhile back but still looks good :-)

Looks good. I'm sure they'll enjoy the larger basking spot. So what kind of filter do you have running on that tank? Looks like you might need a bigger one.

I actually have 2 submergable filters in it, one on each side. I do weekly water changes, sometimes twice a week. I know a lot of people that don't do that, but I treat their tank as good as I do my fish tanks and I like it kept clean. :)

Someday when you think of upgrading or whatever, really consider getting canister filters. They do a very good job at keeping water clean, especially for messy turtles. Still, because I have fish with my turtles I do a 30-50% water change about 3 times a week. I swear plecos make more of a mess then any turtle!

That is a thing I remenbar from the plecos I had:ROFL:

That is a pretty good setup :D:headbang2:clap:clap:thumbsup: If you have a female also consider adding a egg laying area;)

Just notice, you may want to substitute that artificial hollow log for something else like bog wood, etc. The thing is if one of your turts gets stuck inside that log there is a very high risk of him drown. Turts are naturaly inquisitive and curious creatures and that can get them into a lot of trobble;)

The setup looks great! I would be afraid of that shelf you had the basking spot on though....
