Hey, I'm (re) building a large-ish W/D for my 200 gallon tank. I've designed it up in a CAD program and I've got PDF versions of all the drawings. I'll take some pictures tonight... I tried attaching pdf files to this message, but MFK only accepts images, so I'm not sure how to upload these. I also tried putfile/putstuff.com but apparently they are down for maintenance :irked:.

Spex:
27" tall
33" long
17.5" deep

uses two trade size 1 (7" dia x 16" long) filter bags (mcmaster.com, page 358) for mechanical filtration.

18"x16.5"x~15" bio area

Quietone 9000 pump.

Thanks for the link... what I meant to say is I've already designed and mostly built mine though. I have the plans if anyone wants them, but nowhere to put PDF files.

here one link i like http://www.piranha-fury.com/information/article.php?id=27
i have many of them for all my fish tank good luck

I read that article, and I actually think my design is better (though not as easy to build.) I already have a W/D in place, and the problem I have with it is the pair of 200 micron filter bags plug up very quickly. That design has virtually no prefilter... if it went on my messy tank, it would plug up daily.

My new design uses a pair of 7" x 16.5" filter socks as mechanical filtration, and allows me space under the tank to put an FX5 if I need more.

Here are some photos of the work in progress. I'm actually almost done. I'm surprised at how easy to work with acrylic is!

Thanks guys. I went over to a friends yesterday, and took advantage of his CNC mill to drill my drip plate.

So far so good!

pretty much complete now. just need some eggcrate to hold up the bio balls, and my 9000 to arrive so I can do the plumbing.
