i'm currently trying to turn my dream tank into a reality, i've allready saved alot of the money it will take to build and started to collect the fish for it(in growouts) :headbang2

the main prob i have is i cant decide on how big the tank will have to be:irked: it will be filtered with a sump and accrilic or ply (if i dare risk it)
will be bare bottom with a large pice of bogwood and a few large rocks

the stocklist will be

Tigers....

2 IT
1 NGT
1 AT
(would like one of each kind idealy)

others.....

2 or 3 florida gar
1 Tigrinus Cat
1 Fire eel
1 Flagtail
2 or 3 Polypterus (prob 1 ornate, 1 delhezi, 1 weeksii but still unsure yet)
plus assorted plecs?

so what tank/sump size would you all reccomend as a min and do you all think the stocking would work?

all input appreciated but please no "as big as you can" answers

thanks in advance

Dave

was thinking about that or maybe 7 x 3 footprint and no polys?

To be smart, you should start running figures of cost of operation for various volumes of water. How much do you want to spend on water heating a month? 1000 gallons worth? 3 thousand? If cost is no object, then something will need to be a deciding factor for you. How much space do you have? How much can you lift? How much work are you willing to do. ect ect.

i have the space for about a 9 x 3 but 7 x 3 would be better, i would like to spend as little as pos on heating lol and will be shutting down atleast 150 gal (my growouts and a tank where the monster tank would go) so i'm not too worried about heating
i am also prepared to build a tank myself if necessery but would prefer to buy a used tank if somthing like a 7 x 2 would be ok, if not will build a tank with odd dimensions

forgot to add i allways wanted an armatus if i could put one of those in aswell

that would be one awesome tank!
