The title is probably confusing . Basically I feel it is important to dechlorinate and age water for a little time to allow it to "de-gas" before adding directly to the tank.
I came to this conclusion aging water and dechlor before adding to tank was a good idea after reading all the way through a thread I created here... I also observed fish stress with the previous method.

So here is my method....
1) Fill 45 gallon trash barrel with tap water of proper temperature from the python adding prime towards the bottom before it fills fully allowing the water to get agitated enough to mix the prime.
I then turn on the powerhead with the eheim spraybar in the trash barrel to agitate the water plenty enough for the dechlor to spread well.
2- Add heater to maintain temperature and wait 24 hours while powerhead spreads water and allows water to de-gas.
3- Drain 50% of tank with python
4- With the pump attached to the bottom of the barrel I turn the pump off then lift the eheim spraybar from the bucket to the top of the tank and attach it there. Then ofcourse turn the pump on
The spraybar I believe does a good job of spreading the water out and oxygenating the incoming water if needed.
All in all I love it and my fish show far less stress than adding tap water directly to the tank.
Bonus smiley bichir shot
Hope this helps someone.
Total investment
1 garbage can 20 dollars.
eheim tubing and spraybar laying around.... also generic vinyl tubing and a simple diy spraybar or just a U hook to attach to the top of tank would suffice and be far cheaper. But like I said it was laying around so I used it.
Powerhead laying around (12 years old easy....)
