my EBJD

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I got a group back in October all were around 1 - 1.5" the few that I still have are still not 2". This guy/gal shot up in size quickly eating like a pig and very sociable too, is always swimming at the front of the tank when I'm in the room. Not sure on age but maybe 7months or so.

I need the luck, out of 14 I started with, I sold 4, 4 have died and the rest most likely have internal parasites. Then there's this guy which seems to be doing good, but the others I'm trying to get them back to good health. Would like to breed this guy/gal with the spawns of my F0 JD's and/or my BGJD's.

It's hard to tell in the first picture but looking at the second one does it seem like he/she might have a beak face? Or is it to soon to tell since it is still young.

He looks really long. His colour should draken up soon too. As for the beack looks like a very slight one but not too bad it should not get too bad. When he darkens up he will look great.

I think it is best to breed them to a regular jd that has the blue gene. Could try breeding to the normal jd you have. breeding 2 ebjd will be more likely to have weak fry.

It's tricky breeding good ebjd that's why they are not cheap.

Not to mention that many EBJD are sterile. I love these fish for there looks, but thats where the love stops. I have kept them in the past and even my best one was a pure stunner for looks yet his personality was weak to say the least. He got to be about 7 inches and couldn't fertilize eggs and spent much to much time hiding. IMHO I would put some gravel in the tank because his very light color could be due to stress from his environment. Good Luck with breeding, let us all know.....
