I woke up this morning to find my dog eating my fire eel.:(

I don't know how the eel even got out of the tank, I've screened over all spaces around the spraybar, intake tube, HOB, even screened off the HOB because the eel used go into the filter.

Anyway, I am really sad about this, everything in my 75 was geared toward making the eel happy; from the sand I just put in to the cave I built for him.

I really miss it. It was hard to pick him up off the floor and toss him away in the trash. He was 20 inches long, I measured him before I threw the body away.

DH is not sympathic at all. He just laid into me about how I should get rid of the 75 because "obviously you are having some major problems.":swear: All I could do was cry, I mean I just lost a pet, but to him it is just another one of my "stupid fish".

I don't think I'm going to get another eel, at least not anytime soon.

I really miss him!!!!

Sorry to hear that. It's hard losing a pet like that, but you can always come here where there are others who know exactly how you feel.

When you divorce him and he's upset remind him its just a stupid house and half his stuipd stuff

sucks, nice sized too... :(
the fish cry forums...
understandable.... among "fish friends" :)
especially since its an actual speciman, not like a neon or a tiger barb or something... something a little more unique...

Get rid of the guy

Thanks for all the support, it is nice to have people who understand what it is like to loose a "fish friend."

I'm getting depressed again because this is the time I usally give Mr. Eel his night crawlers. I've been giving that fish worms to eat at 9:30pm for the past year, hard to break routine.

Anyways, I explained to DH that he was being an ass about the fish and that if I was getting rid of any more tanks (got rid of the brackish, but my choice) then the snowmobile and hunting crap would have to go too. He said he didn't mean to upset me when he said get rid of the 75 but he hates to see me so stressed out. Basically he thinks by getting rid of the tank my life would be easier because he just doesn't understand my love for fish keeping. So he was trying to be some help in a twisted way of thinking.

He didn't know I cared so much for the eel, but after I went off on him and ignored him for half the day he got the idea. That is why it took me so long to get back to this board, been to busy with DH "having conversations." LOL!

Perhaps your DH & my DW shoud spend some time together. They can talk abour how nuts we are.. I mean after all they are just fish, right? you cant even pet them. like a dog.

Like H377 I cant pet them. I feed my oscar by hand. they pet me for crying out loud.

I never had a fish pi55 all over a brand new couch like that dog she just had to have....

Just know we care.... chin up & all that ...
