I hope someone knows....my first tank, 50-55 gallon freshwater, did all the testing, etc, got 2 electric blue jack dempsey's, everything was fine, they were lil, about 4" long, i guess, feeding them flakes, 2 1/2 weeks later, i got a female convict and a firemouth, all the same size. well, there was a lil bullying ech other, but one of the dempsey's just shut it down, WOULD NOT EAT, just looked at the back wall, always by the filter or the heater or in the corner. so i check the ph, did a water change, he just wouldn't eat or stop looking at the wall. the others would pick on him but he would just swim off, get away from them and then go right back to his walls. And wouldn't EAT. his color wasn't vibrant anymore, he was pale while the other one is bright blue, black when he's hungary...beautiful....yesterday i got home from work and i couldn't find him in his usual spots he was on the dead. and i have no idea why? PLEASE HELP

Stress killed him. Blues need to be kept in a stress free environment when young, because their genes are very weak and the fish is very prone to disease and illness. Your convict and firemouth did him in. I suggest a larger tank for when they are adults as well. Keep your other blue isolated so that he does not become stressed out too. When young these fish can die from anything, so you need to keep them in a stress free environment.

I agree... died of stress...

Yeah. Guppies killed mine. They scared him behind a rock and he never would eat after that.

D-Train is right.
I had three casualties due to journey and new auarium adaptation stress, they developed Hexamita and even when confident enough to try to eat, they would through out the food, I treated them for Hexamita and only one survived (they where 1/1,5 inches).
Adding some salt to the aquarium is good, at least when they are adapting to the new aquarium.

ya... that can happen...

I lost two EBJDs, both were internal parasite... one's belly got so huge it exploded.. the other turned very dark and died...

I'm only down to one and he's doing okie.. hard to see what he eats sometimes.. i give him blood worms, pellet, and sometimes small pieces of meat.. he's doing well.. since i section him off from the rest of the fish.. only other tankmates are a small Ram and two pleco about the EBJD's size.. (1.5")

I do plan on getting more EBJDs.. just have to find some good genes...

really, i thought that too and now the other one is going to the same places the first one did. they aren't pickingt on this EBJD tho. as a matter of fact he use to pick on athe first EBJD. i'm so sad about my deceased fishy, i don't like that they pick on each other.....I guess i have to separate him from the rest...Thank You all, I appreciate your feed back, i was so baffled by this behavior.
