So we all know whether a puffer will tolerate tankmates depends a lot on personality... So lets see some pics of peoples fahakas with their tank mates chilling peacefully just to see how many there are?

P.S im in no way condoning keeping a fahaka with other tank mates but if you have a spare tank to separate the fish if needed then it's really up to you...

P.P.S. a lot of decorations would be recommended for other tank mates for them to hide if needed...

^ Just curious, did your Fahaka EVER cause your Dat's problems? i know my fahaka used to chase my yellow lab a little bit... but now days as you can see, they are chums...

When I first introduced my fahaka to my datnoids, he tried to nip at them, but the datnoids always put him on check. My fahaka lived with my datnoids for two years never killing or harming them. I guess he learned that he could never win haha. My fahaka sadly died though.

My only concerns was feeding time. I feed my datnoids and my fahaka market shrimp. The dat's were a whole lot quicker and sometimes my fahaka would go after the same piece of shrimp even if it was already half way in my datnoids mouth. I was scared my fahaka would take a chunk out of my datnoids face.

^ yeah, i could imagine that would have been a hairy situation... did you place your fahaka and dats together in the tank at the same time? coz i've been wondering if that effects how vicious a fahaka might be towards tank mates...

No my datnoids where in the tank long before I got my fahaka. I also had an oscar that lived in the same tank. When my fahaka tried to take a bite, my oscar would flare up and charge athm. It seemed like my fahaka could only live with fish that could fight back. He realized that if they can fight back he will just back off and leave them alone. Also my datnoids never picked on my fahaka. The most harmful thing they did was just headbutting him to scoot him away from them.

^ Very interesting... yeah, i mean as i said, its just that i've been noticing a lot more people who seem to be able to keep fahakas with tank mates, myself included... so i'm starting to wonder if there is a sort of formula that works for keeping fahakas with tank mates...

I.e. having them all placed in the same tank at a young age together, or having the fahaka added in last at a small size kinda deal...
