Hi guys. I got a 2.5'' fahaka for weeks, and she keeps hiding behind. Every time I come(even though I'm feeding them), she just stay in sand or hiding behind those plants. I did realize she's also hiding under the rock in fish store before I bought her. And I had another pee fahaka. She loves swimming around and she will swim to me usually.
Anyone have ideas for this?

Are they in the same tank, what is the size if the tank and are there any other tank mates?

Ah yes that will do it! Fahakas don't really like each other, specially wild caught ones. Part of their savage aggression comes from the murky waters where they live and anything is either a threat or a meal. So another fahaka in a nice clean water fish tank is going to be very scary for a long time. Hopefully they are similar Size and in a very large tank (220g for 2 adults or more). I have a large fahaka in a community tank ao I know it can work but two together is new to me. I can juat say LOTS of decor and places to hide, plenty of food and give it time. This will not be a quick fix. Good luck

I would say return one of them ASAP, since i highly doubt it will work out in the long run, especially if your new guy has been hiding for weeks...

The reason i say that is because it sounds like your exisiting fahaka is already the dominant one in the pair, and aggression may only get worse, and trust me, when puffers fight, they can really fight hard!!!

So i would hate to imagine 2 decent sized fahakas going at it will do... Coz last time someone i read tried breeding them, one broke through the barrier making the other eventually jump, and the instigator also died of his wounds...

True Homer has a very valuable point. when they fight one normally dies and the other can be mortally wounded as well.

I had the bigger fahaka (about 2'') for weeks, and she is the one keep staying in sand for long time. I just add another small pee fahaka (around 1cm) a few days ago. The pee fahaka is swimming around, and it's like 4 or 5 times smaller than the bigger one. Is it possible that the big fahaka scared? But before adding the pee fahaka, she's already got used to bury in sand since the first time she bury herself.
I will keep my eyes on them, but I dont see they are unhappy with each other. They are just ignored each other lol. I also put lots of fake plants and rocks for hiding. As I said, the pee fahaka will swim to me usually and she doesn't looks scared at all. The problem is the big one seems she doesn't like human. Everytime I walk close to the tank, she's trying to hide behind plants. That's the problem I want to solve.
Thank you all the inputs.

I used to put live blackworms for her. I was in vacation for 2 weeks, so I put some in the tank, and she will find worms to eat when she's hungry. I'm not sure if that gave her the information that I'm not the one feeding her.

i would just listen to Homer and remove one of the puffers. no sense in killing a fish needlessly.

Also, when you say pea puffer, do you mean a pea puffer or an absolutely tiny fahaka? they are different species after all. Take pictures and post them.

tiny fahaka.
and btw,how fast did they grow? I've heard 1cm per week or so. I didn't realize they grow that fast, but they did grow faster than other fish. I had a few GSP before.
