This is totally to my shame and I am ashamed but worth sharing.

About 6 days ago I was cleaning my OHF and some how got distracted and forgot to turn the water to the sump back on, my filter media went dry for 6 to 8 hours.

About 2 days ago I had to quickly use the pipe feeding OHF and again go distract, and forgot to reconnect it, after last time I fixed it so the OHF wouldn't go dry; so the media stayed wet. However the filter was not running for close to 48 hours. So in the past week my filter has been off for 54 hours and media dry for 6 hours. When I noticed I had done it again today I almost cried, I ran to the store and bought a test kit for ammonia. It was 0, I will continue to monitor it for the next week but I can only contribute this to the massive pothos I have groing, there are about four 8' long strands growing out of my tank.

It is so easy for me not to notice the filter not running because I use one pump to power the filter and circulate water in the tank so you can't tell from looking at the tank if its running or not. This is not an excuss and I am deeply ashamed but Thank goodnes my water didn't foul.
