Males have deep red coloring around their mouths and this does not appear until they reach 4 inches size. That yoyo is indeed gravid. Unfortunately, no one has successfully bred them so don't get your hopes up. They will simply eat the eggs straight away with their keen sense of smell. It takes a powerful water current to avoid cannibalism.
