Parachromis dovii has undergone a bit of a growth spurt lately.

And what do you know? The pic that turned out the best was of the smallest fish in the tank. Juvenile Parachromis male, about 4", hatched from eggs in this tank full of killers and surviving to grow out. There are two out of 100,000 or more fry? Five others (now juveniles) have been pulled from the sump over the last few months...

Your Dovii is right about the age he could snap....I'm curious how he'll do with his tankmates.

I know. He's been fine so far for a yeara and a half. Time will tell. But so far so good.

Nice Dovii. Hope it works out in the long run

Me too! :D

For those that don't know what I do, see my sig line. I have had as many as five simultaneous breeding pairs. All are adults. All but the dovii have been together over three years. The dovii has been in there for almost two years. He was added at around 4.5". You can look through my posts to see the how's and why's of what I've been able to accomplish.

I have no nuisance aggression issues to speak of. Just the occasional bump to let someone know to stay out of someone else's house. Dovii reputation as a maniac killer aside, I have no real reason to believe anything will change.

The dovii is already the biggest in the tank. He is submissive to the male la ceiba who is much smaller in stature. He has a well staked out territory that the others stay out of for the most part. The la ceiba is able to come and go as he pleases in the dovii territory though. But, he's the only one able to get away with that.

All in all, this science project has been the most rewarding experience I've had in fishkeeping.

This is one of my all time favorite tanks, it looks fantastic Kevin! I am an SA guy but just love this tank.
