My Female festae before she comitted suicide.

I woke up this morning to find her on my living room floor dry and stiff. Even though she was a lil "special" and visually impaired, I still loved her none the less. Heres a video of her a few days ago acting "special" like usual. I dont know how she made it out the tank. May she R.I.P.

Sorry for your loss... but what was up with her? Perhaps oxygen deprivation when she was just a wee little fry?

Looks like some sort of equilibrium or swim bladder problem. Sorry for your loss but at least she is not suffering now.

Being the last one in the store it was very pale looking. I figure she as the last one for a reason. didnt swim one bit and sat in a corner. I thought Id give her a home and since she was what she was, I thought I couldnt go wrong with a festae. She didnt swim for the fist month I got her then she slowly opened up. She doesnt swim like the video often. However she was constantly doing laps around the tank and when she hit a corner she would swim up or down it depending where she was in the tank. The laps actually got pretty aggressive lately and I think thats how she made it out the tank. however the only opening in the tank is in the back where the filter is and I found her in front of the tank. Either she hit the front lid had enough and flew out or she flopped on the floor long enough to make her way up front. Anyhow needless to say my day was ruined after that. Not to mention I got bumped out the playoff in my fantasy football league. but thats neither here nor there.

swim bladder problems can't be fixed . sometimes they eat and everything else and can live for a long time too . ive had 2 fish that got that problem , the 1st was a male festea by coincidence and the second was a flowerhorn about 10 years ago i think. the festea ate and everything . he would swim and then just float to the top . the flowerhorn was messed up real bad . he was almost being pushed out of the water . i chopped his head off with the shovel , poor guy . im not joking either , sounds horrible ha ...
