I'm still so upset. On sataday night I heard them going through their abortive dances that look for all the world like mating rituals. He would rub her undersides with his nose and she would flash round to rub under his then they would swim with him under her split and swim back toward each other. These were done at pretty high speeds with returns done at super speed. They would do this dance a lot lately but would have to stop midway nearly everytime due to her or him running very close to the glass, sometimes hitting it.

Last wednesday I promised them a bigger acrylic tank 3.5ft wide for the garage. Too late.
Looks like she ran into the glass and died Sataday night. Her colours were bright as hell when I took her out and buried her on sunday, no pic as I get too attached to my fish I just can't do it.

The Blue is really unhappy too it's all so bloody sad.

I'm thinking of giving him to a new home, someone with some females. His new keeper's tank would need to be at least 3ft wide though.
He is all alone and i'm not putting another female in my tank only to have a repeat performance.

Ouch! My deepest condolences, WLR! Very very sorry to hear this happen to your female. I totally feel and understand your loss. Tragic losses, like these are always usually devastating and heart-breaking... especially if you've grownout and raised from juvies/babies. :(

I hope that this hasen't really discouraged you anyway at all, from ever keeping any more pleurops anytime sometime in the near future? Hopefully someday, your personal info and experiences you've had w/ pleuropthalma can or will be used... (to if not you, perhaps maybe somebody else??) in hopes and efforts in trying to hopefully captive breed this species?... "You may just never know?!!"

I always have enjoyed following, reading, replies, input, and feedback... that you've ever posted on them. :) Great job doing so.

Be sure to keep your spirits and head up and on this one, and go and get yourself a few more pleuros for yourself to have, keep and raise up?!!
