thought I would share this pic of my female Nic with you, had her about 6 months now and shes grown from about an inch to 3.5 inches in that time but laid eggs by her self quite a lot. Currently hiding behind the plants from my Guianacara but thats going soon because its caused me tons of problems.

Pretty fish and great pic. You need to find her a male.

My male and female are a VERY bonded pair, but she wont lay eggs. Probably better off that way. They build intricate nest and go through all the motions but she just wont lay. They are nearly two years old and grew up together. They are teritorial and keep everyone in line but are relatively peaceful.

Hi Bill I have been contemplating getting a male for her as she lays eggs on quite a regular basis but at the moment I only have one tank which is a 4x2x2 with a few sevs and some geos with her in I would like to add a male nic but not sure what would happen if they did breed and also she is quite squishy and always starts fights but cant back it up so a bit worried what a randy male might do to her....

Plus where I am from Nics are imposible to find I live in Yorkshire in England and I was out for the day in London popped in a fish shop I found on my wander and there was a nic haha so I grabbed her bagged her and boxed her and got her home just before christmas haha! But I have never seen a mature male in the scales so to speak.
