i need to know why my FH is dark in colour?????

sometimes he brightens up.. but again most of the time is dark..

i noticed that when i had bought new gravel (white n red) he brightened up.
he was alone at that time.but had sucker also.

later got a FH for 1$. currently he's sharing the tank with him n sucker, the tank is divided by a glass.

1) is my FH dark due to the other small Fh in sight with him?
2) he'l brighten when i keep him alone...
3) water parameters are good as the other small FH is not dark like my big fella is.
4) need to increase light duration time?
5) or any other factor....

plz reply me friends i was eager to ask this from long time back....

pictures would help us.

pics?

yes it looks good i too have same prob but my FH does that only for a ashort period of time how much did u buy that

hey thanks.....

but abt the pH and nitrates, even if i change the water, its the same????
can the water be the cause????
water mite be containing high pH, n nitrates?

also, i got it for 40$ was grown a lot but.....

very nice flowerhorn for $40..
Its possible your levels are high straight from the tap..
you need to get test kits and test your tank..
also test what your tap water is like..
if needed get ph down and bring it down to about 7.2..
lower it slowly ..
only thing to normally fix nitrates is waterchanges..
if your tap water has high nitrates.. get something like PRIME to treat your water

thanks buddy.....
you may b rite, about the tap water....
but i dont knw where will i get PRIME pH here in india?
also, how to use it? are there any other ways to lower or neutral the pH?

water could be too cold for the fish.. Try to put it at 82-84*

or it might not be feeling well. Either way, that's not good.
