Would females lay eggs even without a male? what do you all think? based on the pics, are these both females? if so, who's gona provide the sperm nowwww :(:WHOA:

i had the same thing happen with a female parrot and a female salvini. i was growing them both out in the same tank and they kept laying eggs for each other. it was funny because they would even switch roles on who was going to guard the eggs and play the male part.

no there is a sertain time period the eggs can be fertalized so i quess not nice lookinf fh though

Agree. Might as well remove the plate and wash them off. A male usually won't fertilize eggs that were already laid before he got there.

If they were M/F breeding them like that isn't a good way to do it. It's better to have a plate on one side, wait for her tube to drop, then drop the divider.

when i had what i think was a male with one of these females a month ago, the male kept attacking the female (smaller) so i had to put the divider between the two.

i heard if you put the plate right in the middle (like i did here), the eggs can still be fertilized by the male?

you need a bigger male. it needs to be bigger than the female by 1.5-3 inches. everyone has their different sizes, but from what i have noticed, if they are too close in size, they will fight alot more. if the male is quite a bit bigger, he can dominate her quickly and they will pair faster. one thing that i learned from camph is to cover the tank with a blanket. i turned off the lights too. when i went to work i did this because i didn't want them to kill each other while i was gone. it worked well. there were no injuries that i didn't see happen. i watched them closely during the courting (for the lack of a better term) process.

the female was smaller...the male kept attackin it....

but this time, these two that i have are noth females...same size...sold the aggressive male a week ago, and got the FH on the left side of the pic thinking it was a male.
