A few moths ago my flowerhorn passed after almost 4 years, exactly sure why but have an idea. A week before passing I noticed a chunk of flesh missing. I tried to treat but guess I didn't succeed. In one pic you can see the hole. The link contains the first pics i took when it was 3''.

sad to hear that sad thing of you bro, but it much better to him to be in peace than to suffering that damn hole.. Im sure you do all you can do, and im very impressed for your patient by keeping it in about 4 years, you never dispose it, even he is not to much good looking, I salute on you bro.

Thanks everyone. Not sure what was the cause, I came home from work and saw it. It was probably only a week after it appeared that he died The only fish that was with him was a common pleco.

what is the size of the pleco?
some times bigger plecos attack other fishes by attaching themselves to the fishes body and eating the mucus and skin layer. it was done to my oscars. since then i never keep plecos.they are territorial and attack other fishes also.

At the time the pleco was about 8''. I had that idea as well but didn't know if it was possible.
