Hey
Just got my first flowerhorn. Good ones are hard to come by at the moment were I live in Australia, in fact they arent that common at all since the fad has kinda died off but this was the best I could find out of any of the lfs near me.
He was 15 bucks and is about 4 inches, was pretty beat up but had him for a week now and seems to be on the mend nicely. I was hoping for a big nuchal hump but don't think he will get one... I like him anyway
Let me know what you think...
p.s he is in a 36x18x16 with only a bumblebee catfish.. the tetra is no longer with us:)

looks kinda like a kirin/killin fish. a FH/parrot hybrid. i culd very easily be wrng however, but his body looks just like my kirin unless its just the pics

a kirin huh? I have never heard of them but will look them up.
I don't think it's a kirin or killin. It's a pearly ZZ short-bodied Flowerhorn. If it gets longer than 6" or so I would be very surprised. That's what they were bred for though. Beef it up and give it some TLC and you should have a nice fishie there.

SIDE NOTE: Watch the Tetras that you have in with him. They can be bitey.

thanks for the info madwhitehat!
after looking on the net I thought it was a flowerhorn aswell... my next question was what type but you answered that too so thanks man!
I got a feeling he may get bigger than 6' but we will see.... ill post an update in a few months or something after i have seen some growth..... oh and don't worry, the tetra is gone,he was a left over before i set the tank up for this guy, the FH tore him apart which is no suprise.....

That's going to be a nice short-thick-stocky FH. Should fill that tank out very well.
