HI
Hi, all
I've been lurking around here fore some time and have gotten invaluable advise from you guys. I need some advice on de-worming my 75g with 3 new fire eels, cl loaches, and some fish. I did the prazipro treatment 2 doses in 2 days and then waited 3 days. Yesterday (4th day) I started the fx5 and it blew out some worms. The fx5 was off only 1 day. I re-dosed with prazipro. I haven't done any water changes singe treatment. Other than that I followed the rest of the directions on the label. What is the duration and dose for off label treatments? The worms a about 1/4" long and about a hair thick. Also what are the emergency/preventative medications for fungal and bacterial meds you guys keep on hand for the eels?
Thanks for the advise,
fisher94

Ps. I will be getting a larger aquarium in the future for the eels.

I did a 60% water change/gravel vac because the eels were breathing kind of hard. There were tons of worms in the gravel. Any suggestions for eradication?
Thanks
Fisher

keep your water quality up... mainting good water quality is the best advise I can offer when combating any issues. I would leave your filters ect running when you dose the tank again, I never turn off filtration or futz with heaters ect when treating my tanks. imo your asking for problems the more variables to toss into it. I would test your perameters, spineys ime are sensitive then most to ammonia spikes. as for the worms it sounds like it may be detritus worms your dealing with, a primary result of over feeding? generally when Prazing a tank I know have IP's I will treat it for 3 days.. then leave it alone for approx 3-4 weeks. and treat again, worms go threw life cycles like most parasites so your not likely to get them all the first time around. I do not change my normal maitenece regime... I dose the tank between water changes ( ie I will do a 50% wc... then dose the next 3 days then do my usual WC 2 days later ect.. or whatever your schedule is. I normally do not run carbon on my filters so you may want to remove carbon during that time but do NOt remove any bio media or floss ect, just the carbon)

for fungal/bacterial problems I use melafix and pimafax.. both can be detrimental in full doses to loaches and spineys, but ime work great with a "less is more" approach. I won't/don't use them unless clean water and good food hasn't fixed a problem in a few days.

I would continue syphoning as many worms as you can from the tank on a daily or bi-daily basis for a week or 2 doing 25-50% wc each time. monitor your feeding, cut back how much your feeding.

I would wait to worm again for a few weeks, unless you see any seriously odd behavior.

Red bloodworms in filter pads? Some ppl say that it means your water is good but also bad. Lol. But It's what ppl usually feed their fish except It's not frozen. Yes I know I wasn't helpful, but I had bloodworms in my filter too but I just rinse them out

what kinda worms? white ones? just clean your gravel and do water changes, could also feed your fish less, if they are white worms they are living off the extra food left over.

Thanks for all the advice. The worms are white. I'll vac the gravel at least once a week from now on.
